About Us

What is 45 Streets?

45 Streets is a movement created to change youth culture in Japan through serving and caring for the younger generation. Through various programs, events, and projects, we aspire to help today’s youth to have high self-esteem, good values, great social skills, a positive outlook on life, hope, vision, and direction for their future. As a result, we believe that young people will positively live in and influence their culture and the world.

The name “45” comes from the Bible verse of Micah 4:5. This verse signifies that we desire for young people to live lives that are focused on making a positive and visible impact in society and the world through words and actions. The word “streets” indicates that we desire to partner with and care for our community in visible and helpful ways for the common good in order to achieve our purpose.

45 Streets and it’s various projects and programs are sponsored and organized by TBC Next GenerationTokyo Baptist Church (TBC) is an international church located in Shibuya (Daikanyama).  Not only has TBC existed for almost 50 years, but it also has over 50 different nationalities represented in the church, and the congregation is currently around 1,300 people.  Even though we are quite diverse, still close to half of our members are Japanese.  At TBC we use English as our main language.  However, Japanese translation is provided and many people who attend TBC do not speak English.  TBC Next Generation is the middle school, high school, college-age and young adult ministry of TBC, spanning ages from 11-25.
